      This quote means that if you are with people that are bad company like always doing drugs and not going to school then it's better to be alone. You should never be hanging out with those type of people because one day they will grow on you and you will become like them and you don't want that. You have to be strong and walk away from that group of friends or person  because you know it's not right. Always choose the right by being alone than with bad company that's always ditching or doing drugs. It doesn't matter if you're standing alone or by yourself because you know you did the right thing. That's the only important part. For example you've been best friends with this group of people at your school for the longest time. Then all of a sudden one day they decide to go out and smoke thinking nothing can happen. You should immediately walk away or say “no” because it's not right. It's better to walk away alone than being with a group of bad friends. Its doesn't even have to be a group of people or friends it could just be one person but you should still walk way. Once said George Washington, it's always better to be alone than with bad company.
