      This quote means that in life if you don't know where your goals are at you wont know where to go. This is just like in football, if you don't know where the goalposts are you won't know where to go or what to do. You always have to have something there to remind you where and what to to do in life to guide you in the right direction. This is really important because it so true what Arnold says, you have to pay attention and listen carefully to know what the real message is. You need to understand what they are trying to say so you can succeed and try hard. An example of this quote is that you want to start a career but you don't know what to do or where to start off. This is the same thing as having a football field without the goalpost, you won't know what to do. This is why you  need to start off with writing or typing down some of your goals in able to do good in that career that you want. You could make a life planning journal to help you out, you write a few goals that you want to accomplish and you reread them and you do them. This can help you little by little to do and accomplish what you want. This quote proves that you need to have goals and make them happen in order to do good or you will be lost without them.
